Based on African folk tales, Nanzi is the journey of self-discovery of a young girl, lost at sea on a rickety dinghy, as an illegal immigrant… Alone and afraid, Salima is comforted by the ancient tales about courage and perseverance, inner strength and dignity. Nanzi is based on the original Ashanti stories about a lively but mischievous spider who always manages to outwit much more formidable foes – such as Tiger, Lion and Snake. The tales are recounted in a fresh theatrical style using colourful costumes, puppets and lots of humour.

Nanzi hija l-istorja ta’ tifla mitlufa f’nofs il-Mediterran, fuq dgħajsa mimlija immigranti. Imwerwra għax waħedha, imbeżża’ għax mħux qed tifhem x’qed jiġri madwarha, issib wens fl-istejjer Afrikani li tiftakar l’ommha tirrakkuntalha… L-istejjer huma fit-tradizzjoni tal-folk tales Afrikani dwar il-brimba mqarba Nanzi. B’xi mod jew ieħor Nanzi dejjem tħaqqaqha ma’ ħlejjaq ħafna ikbar minnha, bħal Tigra, Ljun, u Serp imma dejjem iġġibha żewġ! L-istejjer għandhom umoriżmu u ċajt li jżżommu l-interess ta’ l-udjenza li għaliha hija maħsuba – tfal bejn is-7 u l-11-il sena.
